They have inspected the letter of Mgr Ardicio, superior ('Primercus') of Milan and papal chaplain, and John de Derlinton, OP, dated 22 Jan 1278 at London (recited). Ardicio and John have been appointed collectors of the tenth in England in aid of the Holy Land by the pope. The prior and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory have satisfied them of £500 deposited with them by the bishop of Verdun [Meuse, France] and John for the tenth for the city and diocese of Canterbury, concerning which deposit there are 2 letters, one for £400 and the other for £100, which letters they have restored to the priory.
