The prior's servants have distrained 2 horses and 3 cows belonging to William Colyn of Birchington, who is the writers' fellow baron, contrary to the privileges of the ports. The writers ask for the distraints to be restored to him, otherwise they will seek redress. Dated at Romney, 22 Jul, no year. [Date: handwriting. F Hull (ed), A Calendar of the White and Black Books of the Cinque Ports 1432-1955, pp97 and 100, contains references to this case in 1487 and 1488.]
