(1) Mostly illegible. [Cautio from John de Renham, prior of Rochester Cathedral Priory, and convent. Thomas de Ringmere, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, and the chapter have granted permission for the consecration of John de Bradfield, bishop-elect of Rochester, to take place outside Canterbury. Together with the bishop, they acknowledge the cathedral priory's rights relating to episcopal consecrations, as specified.] Sealed with the seals of the chapter and of the bishop-elect. (2) Cautio of John [de Bradfield], bishop-elect of Rochester. Prior Thomas [de Ringmere] and the priory chapter have granted permission for his consecration to take place outside Canterbury. He does not intend to prejudice the cathedral priory. Dated 9 May 1278, at Brockley [Kent]. Name of Richard, bishop of Hereford, substituted over John's name.
(3) Profession of obedience by Richard [Swinfield], bishop-elect of Hereford, to Archbishop John [Pecham] and the Church of Canterbury. [Swinfield was consecrated on 7 Mar 1283.]
