| Description | From: Peter [Roderici of Spain], bishop of Sabina [Roma, Italy], papal nuncio To: the prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
The prior is acting as collector of Peter's procurations in the city and diocese of Canterbury. Peter has recently received full payment from the preceptors and brothers of the Knights Templar in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland and by this mandate he acquits them and agrees not to demand further payment. He forbids the prior to take any further action against them and orders him to return any money he may already have received. If any preceptors or brother of the Knights Templar in Canterbury diocese have been excommunicated or placed under suspension or interdict for non-payment, the prior is to absolve or release them from the sentences. Given at York [Yorkshire].
Endorsed with description, describing the document as for the absolution of the Templars of Ewell, and note that it was received on 25 Jun in early 14th cent hands. |
