Petition asking that the export of Romney Marsh wool and wool from other parts of Kent should be permitted by licence. Some details of effects of the import of foreign cloth on Romney Marsh, local markets and land prices and the local cloth industry. Also includes a comment on the quality and use of Romney Marsh wool. No date. [Date: an entry in the city's burghmote minute book for 26 Apr 1664 (CC/AC/5, p100) refers to the presentation of a petition by the Romney Marsh wool producers, relating to the transport of wool by licence. The city agreed to draft and present a similar petition and the dean and chapter contributed £20 towards the cost.]
