The whole of his inheritance in houses, messuages, lands and rents within the city of Canterbury and outside which fell to him through ('ex parte') Hugh his father. Condition against tenure by religious men or Jews. For an annual payment of 6d, payable as specified at the capital messuage of Hugh his father. Made and recorded at the hundred court of Burgate ward and the borough moot of the city of Canterbury. For this Regina has also paid 12 marks as a gersum fine to pay the debts of John's father and 10 marks for John to make his journey to Jerusalem ('ad iter meum faciendum versus terram jerosolimitanam'), which he has undertaken ('recipio') for the souls of his father and himself.
