Description | Extracted from the register of the archdeacon of Canterbury. Acta made in St Margaret's church, Canterbury, before Thomas Bouchier, LLD, official of the archdeacon of Canterbury, in the presence of Martin Hirst, registrar, in an office case against Thomas Griffin, clerk, sequestrator of the fruits and tithes of St Paul's vicarage, Canterbury, against whom it is objected that the vicarage house is out of repair. Thomas admitted the charge, but stated that it would cost £50 to repair the vicarage house and the income of the vicarage was only £30 in tithes, plus an augmentation of £10 from the dean and chapter of Canterbury, patrons of the church. The judge ordered the dean and chapter to retain £5 from the augmentation each year, to be spent on repairs until the house was in good repair again. New letters of sequestration were issued to Thomas, incorporating this arrangement, and a copy of the order was to be delivered to the dean and chapter. No date. [Date: date of original.] Original dated 14 Oct 1681.
