DescriptionFrom: William Lovelace of Greys Inn ('greysyn'), Middlesex

There have been disputes between Christopher Curthopp of St Dunstan's without the walls of the city of Canterbury, Kent, and John Twyne of St Paul's of the city of Canterbury, alderman, concerning the tithes of St Paul's and other matters. John Culpeper, esq, also has cases pending against Twyne concerning oaks felled at Pett in Kent and a debt of £4 for a year's farm of half the tithes of St Laurence's Hospital next Canterbury. The parties have accepted William's arbitration. He orders Christopher and John Twyne to quitclaim to each other for all actions and demands they have against each other since 30 Apr last. Christopher is to receive the tithes of St Paul's during the remainder of a term of 21 years granted to Twyne by the dean and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral by an indenture dated 9 Dec 1541 and Twyne is to assign the lease to him. Twyne is to deliver all documents relating to St Laurence's Hospital and its property to Christopher. He is also to pay Christopher £30 as specified, £10 to be paid in the porch of St Dunstan's church. Christopher shall indemnify Twyne concerning any cases Colepeper has against him and Twyne and Robert yonge are not to be troubled about the matters contained in them. Christopher shall also save Twyne harmless against the dean and chapter for an annual payment of £5, part of a rent of £7 they reserved when they leased him St Paul's rectory. Twyne shall continue to occupy the barn, garden and lands he now occupies by virtue of the lease. William's signature on plica.
