DescriptionFrom: Adam son of Simon of Garrington ('Garewintone')
To: the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory

That he is bound to pay to the priory an annual payment of 3s, as well as other payments and services and customs to Adisham court, for 11½ acres of land in Garrington [('garewintune') in Littlebourne].
2½ acres lie in 'Hwetteaghe' field with the land of John deme to south, the land of Randal Pococ to north, the land of Hugh de Broco to east, and the king's highway between Wingate [('Windgate') in Littlebourne] and 'Meldune' to west. 1 acre lies in his own messuage. 8 acres lie within the boundaries ('infra ambitum') of the 100 acres of Garrington. He places this land as surety for the payment. This was made in the 'capitalis curia' of the priory. For this the priory has paid 26s as a gersum fine. Dated 1232, no month.
On attached parchment slip, passage in Hebrew. Followed by quitclaim in Latin by Isaac son of Mer... (Hebrew characters follow) for the 3s payment which the priory has bought from Adam. In Bunce's catalogue, William Urry pasted a transcription of the Hebrew passage, together with a translation into English. The text of the translation, which gives Isaac as son of Mayer, resembles the Latin quitclaim.
