Description | Between: Thomas de Fyndone, abbot of St Augustine's Abbey; Henry of Eastry, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
To settle a dispute between Nicholas de Spina, abbot of St Augustine's Abbey, and Thomas Ringmere, prior of the cathedral priory, each house chose 2 monks from the other as judges. These were John de Eastrie and Lambert de Clive, priory monks, and William Bretoun, prior, and William de heleghe, monk, from the abbey. In addition each house chose one of its own monks as further judges. These were Henry de Cokerine from the abbey and Walter de Chilindene from the priory. These judges met on 31 Aug 1276 in St Gregory's Priory. The abbot and prior confirm the settlement made by the judges and the replacement of William Bretoun and Lambert, who have died, with R[oger] of Littlebourne [abbey monk], and G[eoffrey] of Chilham [priory monk]. Priory's part of indenture.
