Description | Account of proceedings in the case between Richard de Feringes, archdeacon, and the cathedral priory on 19 Apr 1298. Philip de Barton', canon of Lichfield, Mgr Roger of Rothwell, archdeacon of Bedford, and John Derewyne ('direwyn'), canon of Exeter, were appointed as papal judges delegate. Recites letter from Philip, dated 10 Apr 1298, at Downton [Wiltshire], saying that he will not be able to attend. John had been excused from the duty. Includes protest by John de Reydon, priory proctor, about the progress of the case, and Roger's reply. These were delivered in the presence of Mgri Robert de derby, Solomon de Burne, Walter de Tremfeld, Walter de Weston' and Henry de Sevenok' and others. Also recites letter from Martin [de Hampton], archbishop's commissary-general, to Roger and Philip, dated 5 Apr 1298, at Ickham. This is in reply to their mandate, recited [as in DCc-ChAnt/A/44].
