Description | From: Boniface of Savoy, archbishop of Canterbury To: Richard de Clare, earl of Gloucester and Hertford
Setting terms for Richard's tenure from the archbishop of the manors of Tonbridge and Hadlow ('Haulo'), with the lowy ('leucata') of Tonbridge, and the manors of Bradsted, Filston ['Vieleston', in Shoreham], Horsmonden, Milton [in Westgate, Canterbury] and Pett [in Charing]. Details of services due and respective rights. Richard must act as high steward and chief butler at enthronement feasts. Details of his allowance in return for this, including clothing, wine, wax, food and tableware. Details of the sede vacante rights of the cathedral priory. Prior Nicholas and the convent have given their assent. Identified on verso as priory's part of indenture.
