James is auditor of contradictory letters. Luke de Guartino, clerk, proctor for Leeds Priory, has obtained two letters from Pope Nicholas III, recited. One to the prior of Rochester, dated 5 Sep 1278, at Viterbo. The other to the prior of Southwark, dated 7 Sep, at Viterbo. These concern the alienated possessions of the priory. Philip de Pomonte, proctor for the cathedral priory, has objected to them.
