DescriptionAccount of presentation by Prior Henry of Eastry to William Testa, archdeacon of Aran [then Gascony, France], and Peter Amalvini, canon of Bordeaux, of 2 letters, recited. This occurred on 15 Feb 1308 at their lodgings by St Paul's Cathedral. Letter from Pope Clement V to Archbishop Winchelsey lifting his suspension from office. Dated 22 Jan 1308, at Poitiers. Also, appointment by Winchelsey of Prior Henry of Eastry as vicar-general in the province and diocese. Dated 28 Jan 1308, at Poitiers. William and Peter read the letters out before the Court of Arches. Also present were Mgri Robert de Ros, canon of St Paul's, Robert de Lacy and Gilbert de Middleton, canons of Lincoln, Philip de Turevyle, rector of Bedworth [Warwickshire], John Bloyhoim, Michael de Bereham, 'Dominus' Nicholas de Knovyle, rector of Maidstone, and William de Maldone, notary public.
With notarial sign of Richard Mayeu son of Robert Mayeu of 'Nortone', Lincoln diocese, notary public, who wrote the document. [See Cheney, as cited below, for use of continental dating style.]
