Description | Testator: Walter Reynolds, archbishop of Canterbury
With directions for his burial. Detailed instructions for dispersal of money and chattels, including vestments, jewels, books, and altarcloths, to the cathedral priory and many other beneficiaries. Naming 12 executors, with John de Hothom, bishop of Ely, as supervisor. Sealing clause, recording that the document was sealed with his seal of office, appended, and also sealed closed with his seal of office and his privy seal. On verso, note that the will was exhibited at the priory before Henry of Eastry, prior, and the monks on 28 Nov 1327. Also description in contemporary hand. Given at Mortlake (Surrey). |
