Enclosing a request addressed to the Dean and Chapter for payment for delivering a sermon. He has discussed this with Dr Jacob. Dr [Thomas] Jackson [prebendary] had left for Chilham, and Dr [Samuel] Baker [prebendary], through the late Mr Edward Browne, encouraged him to preach. Dr [John] Jeoffery [prebendary] and Dr [Humphrey] Peake [prebendary], now dead, supported him. Peirce and Baker communicated in Latin.
