Description | Writer: Frewen, Accepted, prebendary of Canterbury Cathedral, dean of Gloucester Cathedral Addressee: Bargrave, Isaac, dean of Canterbury Cathedral, and chapter
Letter accompanies repayment of the £20 given to him at the midsummer chapter. He has 2 requests. Because he now lives far from Canterbury and is involved in the government of the university [of Oxford as vice-chancellor], he asks for his period of residence to be in the Midsummer quarter. He also asks for timber for his stable and for repairs to his house. He says that he would have said these things when in Canterbury if there had not been a sudden fright. Contemporary endorsement. [Date: made dean of Gloucester Cathedral in 1631, vice-chancellor of Oxford 1638-1640.]
