| Description | Writer: Margetson, James, vicar of Exning, Suffolk Addressee: Lynch, John, dean of Canterbury Cathedral
He has just turned 76. He was presented to the living in 1701 by Dean Hooper, succeeding Mr Peachey. He enjoyed the lease of the parsonage which was held by a relative, Mr Oliver Morden. In Nov 1703 there was a bad fire which destroyed a barn, which he rebuilt, using wood from his own estate in Cherry Hinton [Cambridgeshire]. Because of financial difficulties he had to sell the lease of the parsonage to Sir Robert Clark. He describes work done to the house and its structural problems. A poorly-constructed barn has just fallen down and he is concerned about rebuilding it.
