| Description | Writer: Knell, John Addressee: [not given]
[no date] Addressed to 'your mastershypes'. As compensation for his work in building up sea defences for the Kite Marshes [in Walland Marsh, Appledore and Fairfield pas, Kent], Knell was allowed to use lands at Orgarswick when they were not in use by the priory. As the priory is using this land, he asks for the use of Kitepen Marsh [in Walland Marsh], adjoining the Fairfield manor lands which are leased to Mr [Stephen] Thornherst, but which he is enjoying. Mr Butler has visited the area. [Date: record of lease of Fairfield marshlands to Thornhurst in 1538 (DCc/BB 79/26.] |
