| Description | Writer: Beadle, Nathaniel, of Romford, Essex Addressee: [not given]
The Dean and Chapter are not allowing him to continue in the office [of rent collector] for the manor of Eastry, and he defends himself. [He was appointed by the person who purchased the manor during the Commonwealth.] He made a request the audit before last. An elderly man, he stresses his loyalty to the Crown. His family has produced many churchmen, and his father was a citizen of Canterbury, being a pupil at the King's School before studying at Cambridge: Samuel Bedell was at the King's School from 1575-1577 and later became vicar of Woolverstone, Suffolk. Contemporary endorsements in Meric Casaubon's hand: 'From Thomas Frend Adsham bedle 18 Sept 61' struck through, then 'It. Mr Bedle his demands, and from petitions'. Endorsement by Bunce. |
