| Description | Nothing further is known about the background of these documents and their survival amongst the Dean and Chapter's records. They were kept together as a bundle and have now been sorted into date order. It is likely that Thomas Napleton was the gentleman of that name who is recorded as mayor of Faversham in 1621 and was buried in St Mary's Church Faversham in 1625 (E. Jacob, History of Faversham, 1774, republished Sheerness, 1974, pp124, 148). The bonds all give the days on which payments to Napleton were to be made. |
