DescriptionBrowne lost his left thigh and leg and had a shot in his right thigh aboard "Mary". Signified by Sir Charles Cotterell. Signed by Sidney Bere.
With petition to the King. Browne has enjoyed the profits therefrom for several years while not in residence there. Dean and Chapter now require his presence in Canterbury or loose all benefits. Browne now petitions the King that he continue to receive same as long as he serves in the sea-service.
With grant, at Court at Windsor 12 May 1681. The king graciously pleased to grant his request and to allow him all other prequisites - despite his non-attendance. He must procure someone to perform on his behalf (except presence at divine Service). Signed W Fanshawe. Petitioner aboard 'Essex`
