| Description | Badly burnt, with transcript and correspondence. In general, only the last 12 of the 36 lines on each page have survived more or less completely. A rare and very fine example of a complete monastic breviary, and the only surviving one from a monastic cathedral. Written at Canterbury for use in the cathedral, in several hands, possibly between 1373 and 1383. Leaves containing principal initials and borders and the offices of St Thomas Becket had been removed, probably on Henry VIII's instructions in 1538. |
