DescriptionPrinted on vellum, the copy of the 1215 Magna Carta known as 'the Canterbury Magna Carta'. The Canterbury Magna Carta was damaged by fire in 1731, and damaged further by an attempt at restoration in the 1830s. It is now unreadable to the naked line.

John Pine (1690-1756) was a publisher, print and map seller, who was also Bluemantle Pursuivant at the College of Arms, and Engraver to the King's signet and Stamp Office.

Purchased in November 2017, with support from the Friends of the National Libraries, the Friends of Canterbury Cathedral and the Canterbury Auction Galleries.
