Description | Letters concerning the offer by Rev Arthur Tooth (1839-1931) to the Dean and Chapter of a monument in honour of St Thomas. The negotiations were mostly between Rev F G Croom and the Dean and Chapter, with Lord Halifax also supporting the proposal. The design was produced by Ninian Comper (see DCc/PLAN/CATH/129-131), but the scheme was turned down. First volume is a typed memorandum of negotiations prepared by Dr Jenkins, Receiver, for the Dean and Chapter, including transcriptions of letters. Second and third volumes consists of original letters pasted in on guards. Letters between Tooth, Croom, Halifax, Comper, and others involved in scheme. Some letters loose.
