A collection of household and estate accounts, receipts and bills of William Nelson, DD (1757-1835), first Earl Nelson, elder brother of the admiral and canon of the fifth prebend of Canterbury Cathedral.
The collection contains a list of household accounts in the handwriting of Edmund Nelson (1722-1802), rector of Burnham Thorpe in Norfolk, the father of Horatio and William Nelson (nos.1-8) and a note (no.9) by G Matcham - "47 guineas found in Mr Nelson's purse Apr 29th 1802". The collection also contains a notebook giving expenses for journeys between Canterbury and London in 1813 and 1814 (nos.39-47) and the account for setting up house with goods from Ruth Simmonds' "China, Glass and Staffordshire Warehouse, Cathedral Church Yard" 2nd Nov 1803 (no.32). Also, separate from the scrapbook, a loose cover in red morocco inscribed "Accounts of the Duchy of Bronte Commencing from the 1 of September 1857. And ending the 31 August 1858." (no.48). Also the diary of a visit to Sicily Mar-Apr 1829 (no.49).
