DescriptionThe chair was possibly originally in Glastonbury, and then in the possession of the Phelps family of Clapton Court, Crewkerne. Martha Wilson Woolley married Frank Woolley as her second husband; her first had been Major Sydney John Morse, whose mother was Evelyn Phelps of Clapton Court. The chair went to Canada with the Woolleys, but was given to the cathedral in 1980 after the death of Frank in 1978, and is now in St Andrew's chapel in Canterbury Cathedral. The book was given on 31 October 1989.
