DescriptionEdition of Duncombe and Battely's 'Ancient Canterbury Hospitals' (printed 1785) bound with prints and other items. Printed items include 'An elegy written in Canterbury Cathedral' by John Duncombe (printed 1778) and the appeal for the construction of the Kent Martyrs' Memorial (1898). Manuscript items include a history of St Martin's Church, Canterbury, thought to be by the Rev Dr William Welfit and 'Index to Mr Grimm's views in and about Canterbury taken in August 1768', identified as written byWilliam Gostling. These are the waterolours by Samuel Grimm (CCA-U376).
