Date1972-1999
DescriptionIn June 1942, as the result of enemy bombing in Canterbury, some of the stained glass windows left in situ in the cathedral because they were too difficult to remove, were blown out. With the permission of the Dean, Hewlett Johnson, Miss Marguerite Laurie collected the broken pieces, stored them in 100 wooden cigar boxes, and, after the war, posted them to Archdeacon Herbert J Greig and his wife who made them up into windows in Matthias' church in 1960 and at St John's Shaugnessy.
Cuttings, letters and a photograph of Archdeacon Greig, with information about the emigration of the Greig family to Canada. Archdeacon Greig died 3 Mar 1970.
Also includes a press cutting from Vancouver, dated 18 March 1999, regarding the glass.
