| Description | The text consists of psalms 1-108, 24 office hymns and the officium defunctorum followed by the prayer 'fidelium deus omnium conditor et redemptor animabus famulorum famularumque tuorum remissionem cunctorum tribue peccatorum ut indulgenciam quam semper optaverunt piis supe supplicationbus consequatur'. Probably written in Germany as 3 of the office hymns appear to have been taken from breviaries in use in the diocese of Magdeburg. Large illuminated initials on ff1, 28, 46, 79, 120, 141. Capitals are in red and blue and the large initials heightened with gold. This psalter was presented to the Dean and Chapter by Miss Joan Somerville (1901-1958), who was the great-granddaughter of Henry Alford, Dean of Canterbury (1810-1871).
