A formal statement that the London and Brighton Railway Co intend to apply for a bill to construct a direct railway from London to Brighton, branching off the London and Croydon Railway. Branch lines will also be built to Oxted, joining the South Eastern Railway, Shoreham, Lewes, Reigate, Hove, and Newhaven. A number of properties owned by the Dean and Chapter around Tooley Street, Southwark, will be required for the railway, and these are fully listed, along with their lessees and occupiers.
