Concerning the case of Dean and Chapter v Compton, he has been refused a sight of Cooke's Residy account by Mr Gwynne, Comptroller of the Legacy Office. This refusal is supported by the opinion of the late Lord Tenterden [Charles Abbott, 1st Baron Tenterden, Lord Chief Justice 1818-32]. He now intends to make enquiries at Ryegate [Reigate?], where Cooke lived.
